Donuts, Trikes, I'm Home and GOODNIGHT! (Oh, and give me a hand, here)

Just a quick post to note that Isabella's surgery went just fine, she was back to her old self about an hour or two after we got her home. We have to plug her ears while bathing her now for a while, and we have to give her these drops in her ears twice a day. We can sort of tell a difference--not that she's saying words better, but that she seems to be picking up a couple new words, like "good girl" and "baby". So it's cool to think her speech is going to get better unimpeded.
We just got back from my dad's today. It was kind of a busy weekend. We went from practically dragging my mom over for steak & chicken to keeping my family from feeding Isabella donuts, crackers, and other junk food. All in all, I think we gained a collective 20 lbs. from the weekend. But, we did managed to obtain a trike. And not just any trike, a brand new Radio Flyer classic red tricycle! But I wasn't sure we'd be able to fit it comfortably into the car with all our other shit. Although I have reached the level of "Master Vehicle Packer", I didn't want to bother with making room for it and Isabella, and my dad said we couldn't leave her there.
Well, that's about it. I'm going to enjoy MY bed for one night this weekend, before I have to return to the night shift.

People Say We "Monk" Around...

I've noticed lately that I've been kind of hard on monks. Franciscan monks, particularily. I'm not really sure why I picked out Franciscan monks. Could be because I think St. Francis is a punk, who should have gotten a life instead of playing with animals all the time. Creepy. Yeah, come to think of it, I think he's a Doolittle bitch! He should have been called "St. Francis of Asses"! That's right, punk! I said it! What're ya gonna do? Attack me with squirrels??
Anyway, I was just thinking of how weird it was to be so hostile toward them, because I got the new Golden Brown out.

Golden Brown? No, Not Golden Brown...

I posted my last module's drawings way far below, along with this module's. Now, let's see if I can NOT wait until the last day to do my assignments...
No Golden Brown yet, this damned "education" thing keeps getting in the way. But it's coming! Hang on Kevin!
Not bad, I could have done better with the face. But I brought out highlight pretty well. Posted by Picasa
Terrible. A lot could have been done better, but I really just wanted to get on to the next one. Posted by Picasa
This was my homework--yes, I'm aware I left the date stamp on. This was done on 18x24 newsprint. I like his forearm. Posted by Picasa
The same drawing grayscaled. Posted by Picasa
My first naked woman in how long, and it's just the bottom half. I shouldn't complain, but I'm a "whole package" kind of guy. Posted by Picasa
I really wasn't impressed with this guy. Too sloppy. Posted by Picasa

I've noticed that I don't seem to get so many comments as I used to. It could be because of some of the things I've said in the past few posts, I suppose. But come on, guys, don't let your opinion of me stop you from reading the latest Golden Brown, currently being shown on http://www.bonedaddycomics.blogspot.com. Come on, you know you want to see what happens to Kevin next, you KNOW you want to...Come on....come on..............COME ON...............That's right, click on the link, click click click click click click click click click.........alright, alright, go to the bathroom, get the mail, roll your eyes, whatever you gotta do to get ready...you owe this to the real Kevin. That's right, if you don't read it, he'll die. He'll really die. Come on..........there you go, just click on it, it's alright, it won't hurt...

My Finished Pattern Design!

Happy Birth/Tax/Easter/Golden Brown Day!

I had a pretty fun weekend. On saturday, we went to the Alerus to do the Easter Egg hunt. There was really no hunt, as all of the eggs were right out in the open on the field, and separated by age group. Isabella managed to grab 3 eggs, which for doing it completely by herself was pretty damn good (other parents thought it necessary to "help" their kids grab eggs, which is against the rules). Oh, and we also managed to get Is a "child" ID, in case she gets lost or abducted or whatnot. That afternoon, we went over to April & Kevin's for grilled chicken dinner. You'd think by now that one of us would be sick of grilled stuff, but nope, still love it. Not only was it Easter weekend, but also Sat. was tax day! Not only was it tax day, but it was also Butto's birthday! So, Butto blew into GF, we all had chicken & steak, then Butto dragged Kevin & me out to the Cuckoo's nest for some birthday partying. Butto got blotto, Kevin and I didn't drink that much, but we all had a blast just bach'n it for a night. Karissa said I could only go to 3rd base and no blondes, but that's pretty much all there were, so dammit!
Anyway, I'm still working on Golden Brown, and I'm stuck with a lengthy assignment for Color & Design, so no promises.

Picture Pages, Picture Pages...

For any of you who are still wondering what I''ve been up to academically, it's basically this. We had to pick from a selection of patterns, then paint them with gouache, using a mixed color scheme. My first two roughs were done with colored pencils, and this one is a gouache rough, just seeing how the colors sit with eachother, before I attempt a final piece. Then, paint, mat, all that fun stuff that I can't do with straight lines. I don't know what my problem is, but I cannot draw, paint, or cut a straight line to save my life. I must just be crooked.

Anyway, I watched The Life of David Gale last night. I kind of thought it would be more heady, like Good Night and Good Luck, but it really wasn't. I can't give away any good parts, though, because all the good parts are spoilers to the movie. I can say this: Think of how M. Night Shyamalan would approach a movie, only with no sci-fi or supernatural elements. That's about that. Hopefully a new Golden Brown Sunday/Monday, like I said, for now content yourselves with clever secular humor on that blog. I'm off to start my work day!

New Golden Brown

I didn't think I'd get it out by Monday, but I made it just barely!
That site again?
http://www.bonedaddycomics.blogspot.com
Or, click to view my full profile and it's the other one of my 2 blogs. After this "episode", I will be trying to post them weekly. When I don't have so much of a hectic school schedule, then I can worry about posting more frequently. I also hope to be able to shed a little more light on Kevin's condition with the next comic. Stay tuned!

Can't Get Enough of the Nude Men

Whateva! I'm taking a break from the drama, because I have sketches I haven't posted from last week. Also, the Golden Brown Comic will be slightly delayed (haven't been able to work on it much yet).
Slightly darker values, but now some of the outlines are still too dark. Plus, he's got this kind of "buh" look on his face. Posted by Picasa
I went a little too light on values, but some of his highlights are alright. Posted by Picasa

Who Starving? Who Cares?

I don't feel anything for starving people. Certainly not in other countries, since I think this country should focus on its own for while, but I don't even give a shit about our own starving. It's not like Karissa and I were ever starving, but we've had to, from time to time, be resourceful. I'd steal food for Isabella before watching her starve. My worries never extend beyond my own family, and I think it's complete bullshit for any charity to expect someone to "give until it hurts". Especially when just a little help will "hurt". If someone wants to keep a parent from watching her kid starve, he/she should take some food away from the parent who lets their kid overeat. When I have the money and/or resources that I no longer have to use to take care of myself and my family, I'll start worrying about starving people. That's my 2 cents.

www.bonedaddycomics.blogspot.com

I got some comments on my second blog, so that's a god start. I even got a criticism. Looney Larry from http://www.moanngroan.blogspot.com said, "Could be the worst attempt of humor I have ever witnessed!" Like I said, it never stopped professionals. Besides, it's mostly deadpan humor. It can be an acquired taste.
Sorry, Kevin, I'm not going to put the next comic up tonight, thanks to Karissa. I've decided to put it up Friday night at the soonest, so you'll just have to wait and see what happens to the character who seems to coincidentally resemble you.
I was a little worried that Kevin would take my good intentions and apparently terrible humor the wrong way and be offended. I know him better than that, but when you put something on a public forum, you sometimes end up overthinking it. Luckily, reactions from him and April have been more than favorable, so the comic stays! But I make no promises on the quality. My humor is mine alone, and I can't just make myself more funny. I can't make myself less funny, either, for that matter. So for those of you who couldn't go to sleep because you were laughing so hard, I'm sorry, you'll just have to deal. And Looney Larry, this is not by far the worst attempt I could and/or will make.

A Slight Change

April's pretty much outlined the flood situation for us, needless to say, we are not worried--yet. Hopefully by this saturday, we'll know where we sit-or float-on the Red River.
Anyway, this post is mainly to let you guys know I've started another blog. I'm not going into any detail, you'll just have to check it out. Any questions, leave 'em on that one (just go to my profile, both blogs are under the same account).
